From 27 to 30 September 2017, the Annual Congress of the German Association of Industrial Property Rights and Copyright (GRUR) will take place in Hamburg. On Thursday (28.09), the expert committee Cartel Law / Working Group Procedure will come together and look at the question:  “Who determines what FRAND is?” This looks at aspects of mandatory licences from a cartel, contract and procedural law perspective. Prof. Dr. Jan Bernd Nordemann will host the discussion as specialist at the interface of Intellectual Property and Cartel Law.

This year again, the trade mark seminar will look at current issues, such as “copyright protection for brands after the Federal Supreme Court “Birthday Train” decision on European design law.  – What companies must pay attention to. Dr. Rudolf Böckenholt, Attorney, Bremen, Dr. Carl-Richard Haarmann, Attorney, Munich and Düsseldorf, Martin Wirtz, Attorney, Düsseldorf and Berlin, and Dr. Anke Nordemann-Schiffel, Attorney, Berlin and Potsdam, will answer questions and are available for discussion.

The Annual trade mark seminar takes place in five locations throughout Germany.  The seminar will begin at 2p.m. and end at 5p.m. Participants are subsequently invited to snacks. Participation is free of charge.

Prof H. Goddar hosts LES Germany module range “License Projects” on 27 October.

The 31st Conference of the Association of European Trademark Owners (MARQUES) will take place from 19 to 22 September 2017, this year in Prague and under the motto “Brands and Culture”. Attending the event will be BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT lawyer Dr. Björn Bahlmann, who will give a speech within the framework of the Workshops No. 2 „Injunctions: their availability and the requirements to obtain them“ on Thursday, 21.09.2017. At Mannheim Patent Days 2017, on 12 October, Professor Dr. Heinz Goddar will give a dinner speech on “Inventor Quality, Inventor Honour and Inventor Compensation in the Era of the Internet of Things”.
