The current WirtschaftsWoche-Rating designated BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT as TOP LAW FIRM 2018 in the field of Patent Law.

Recommendations were given for solicitors Dr. Andreas Dustmann and Dr. Carl-Richard Haarmann and patent attorneys Prof. Dr. Heinz Goddar, Dr. Thomas L. Bittner and Dr. Matthias Philipp.

The Handelsblatt Research Institute surveyed 690 patent attorneys and solicitors from 111 firms in this ranking. The lawyers were asked to name the most renowned colleagues in their line of work. The list so formed is subsequently evaluated by a jury of experts: The results are two lists with leading law firms for patent attorneys.

Motive Partners acquires LPA Group – BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT team advises

With Dr. Sebastian Engels, BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT is, together with the lead advisors of SKYE Partners (Frankfurt) part of the advisor team for Motive Partners, set to make its first investment in Germany with the acquisition of Lucht Probst Associates (LPA Group).

Established two years ago by private equity investors and financial experts, Motive Partners is represented with branches in New York and London. The focus of investment clearly rests on technology companies active in the financial sector. The acquisition of LPA Group, based in Frankfurt, fits exactly into this target group: As of 1999, it has developed software solutions for banks and asset managers and counts around 200 employees.

SKYE PARTNERS has been active as a corporate and transaction law firm since February 2018 and has specialized in company law, venture capital, private equity and M&A. Here, the firm uses web-based technology in order to form and coordinate customised teams for complex transactions. ‘Trade Mark and Design Law / Competition Law’ was mentioned with praise and it was stated that the traditionally strong brand management practice “has been expanded over recent years to include a good litigation practice”. Dr Lara Kuntz receives the Basic Research Prize from the German Society for Orthopaedics and Accident Surgery (DGOU)

The prize was awarded on 26 October 2018 at the German Congress for Orthopaedics and Accident Surgery. 

With the award, the DGOU honours research conducted by Lara Kuntz on biomolecular key structures in the Achilles tendon-to-bone connection. She showed that the fibres of the Achilles tendon attaching to the bone fan out in thin fibres which have a different protein structure as well as different geometric arrangement to tendon fibres. These micro-structural changes allow the efficient transmission of pull and pressure tension on to the bone. The results of the study have been published in Nature Materials.
