Michael Hartig studied physics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Munich. After finishing his diploma he investigated measurements of ultrafast electron scattering processes in semiconductor quantum wells using pulsed laser systems at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he earned his PhD.
He started his education as a patent attorney in 1998. Since 2003, he has been a registered German and European patent attorney and a partner at BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT.
Michael Hartig is an instructor of the German Chamber of Patent Attorneys where he teaches patent attorney candidates.
He is a member of the Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP), the International Association of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), and the German Physical Society (DPG). In June 2020 he was elected to the Council of the “Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi)”, the professional association of all European patent attorneys.
