Kevin Petersen studied mechanical engineering, majoring in production engineering at the Technical University of Dresden. He graduated with a degree in engineering (Dipl.-Ing.) in 2019. Within the scope of his diploma thesis, he focused on audio and voice control as well as on elements of production and assembly technology in combination with Industry 4.0 at a leading automotive company.During his studies, he gained experience in the fields of machine tools, control engineering and welding technology. After completing his studies, he worked for a leading tool manufacturer and supervised a wide variety of projects in the field of fastening technology.Kevin Petersen has been working for BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT in intellectual property since September 2021.

Melanie Müller studied law at the University of Bremen with a focus on International and European Business Law. She completed her legal clerkship at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Bremen.

Since July 2021, Melanie Müller is working on her doctoral thesis on the topic of “Theory and expected practice of the relativization of injunctive relief pursuant to paragraph 139 PatG in the new guise (2nd Patent Modernization Act)”, in addition to her work as an attorney at BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT.

With effect from 01 May 2022, Melanie Müller has been appointed as a lecturer for industrial property rights at Bucerius Law School (BLS) in Hamburg. Together with Heinz Goddar, she has been the editor of the handbook “Trade Secrets Throughout the World” since January 2023.

Robert Bernin studied chemistry at the University of Hamburg and the University of Potsdam focusing on technical and polymer chemistry. Here, he did research on more sustainable polymers derived from carbon dioxide or renewable resources, such as carbohydrates.

Robert Bernin has been working at BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT since December 2019. In 2020, he received his admission as a German patent attorney and as a representative at the European Union Intellectual Property Office. Since 2022, Robert Bernin is a professional representative at the European Patent Office.

Eckhard Ratjen works in the field of trade mark law and law of unfair competition as well as copyright. His practice concentrates, among other things, on the prosecution of trade mark applications, infringement proceedings, and preliminary injunctions. Eckhard Ratjen advises medium sized and large international and German clients in areas such as media and consumer products. He also enthusiastically assists start-up companies in all areas of intellectual property law.

Eckhard Ratjen studied law at the University of Kiel (Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel) with special emphasis on intellectual property. In his doctoral thesis, he was concerned with the audiovisual marketing of sporting events with particular regard to film copyright issues. Eckhard Ratjen studied the international law of trade marks and copyright at the renowned King’s College London from 2012 to 2013. There, he obtained a Specialist Master of Laws (LL.M.) in intellectual property law. Stages of his legal clerkship included working for an internationally operating sports marketing company in Frankfurt/Main. He joined BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT in 2013 and qualified as a Certified IP Lawyer in 2019. Eckhard Ratjen is a member of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR).
