Karl-Heinz Metten is mainly interested in the fields of engineering plastics (manufacture and applications) and catalysts.He studied chemistry and computer science at the University of Bochum and the University of Dortmund. He received his PhD in organic chemistry focusing on stereoselective synthesis of drug targets and the chemistry of saccharides.
As a postdoctoral fellow he specialized in organometallic chemistry at Imperial College, London (GB), and in the Department of Chemistry of the University of Cambridge (GB). After working as a patent attorney trainee in a patent law firm in Hamburg, he joined the patent and license department of a major German chemical company.
The JUVE Handbook 2017/2018 cites him as one of the patent attorneys who is frequently recommended.
