Prof. Dr. Christian Czychowski speaks at the IP Dispute Resolution Forum in Munich
At the Munich IP Dispute Resolution Forum on November 12, 2019 at the German Patent and Trademark Office in Munich Prof. Dr. Christian Czychowski will present a concept that our partner Martin Schaefer developed together with him to determine what are the so-called FRAND-conditions for licenses within the framework of standard essential patents. The two of them want to look beyond the boundaries of patent law. Copyright law knows similar questions regarding the licensing of mass uses and the experience gained there with agency solutions for collective licensing on appropriate terms can perhaps also help in patent law to answer the difficult patent law question as to the conditions under which standard essential patents can be appropriately licensed (cf. also the article by Schaefer/Czychowski in GRUR 2018, 582).
