Andreas Dustmann studied law at the University of Heidelberg, Complutense University of Madrid, and University of Cologne. He obtained the degree of Master of Laws (LL.M.) at the University of Edinburgh in 1995. In his doctorate work, Andreas Dustmann was concerned with the liability of internet service providers for online copyright infringement. From 1998 to 1999, he was a research fellow at the Max-Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg. In 2001, Andreas Dustmann joined BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT and became a partner in 2007.

Andreas Dustmann acts on behalf of his clients including domestic and foreign undertakings in a wide range of intellectual property work. He is well known, among other things, for the legal representation of some US film studios in the fight against internet piracy. He has been a legal advisor for the construction of several video-on-demand portals and eCommerce platforms, and provides ongoing counsel to media companies, agencies, and dealers on legal issues of the internet. Another focus of his work is representation in court proceedings. For years he has represented clients in complex legal disputes, especially in the area of unfair competition, copyright, trademark, and design law. He is also increasingly active in patent litigation. Clients appreciate his ability to work towards solutions for cost-effective, amicable settlement.As a specialist in domain law and practice, Andreas Dustmann acts in domain name disputes both before the German courts and in arbitration before the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). As a Patent Attorney Thomas L. Bittner focuses on technical intellectual property rights, especially patents and utility models, both with respect to filing and prosecution, as well as litigation. Also, he advises and represents his clients in opposition proceedings and revocation proceedings before the German authorities and courts, and before the European Patent Office. Thomas L. Bittner advises companies on the establishment and strategic development of intellectual property rights portfolios, including licensing. His special technical interests are, among others, electrical and mechanical engineering, semiconductor devices, medical devices, and software patents.

Thomas L. Bittner studied physics at the Humboldt-Universität of Berlin. After his PhD he worked as a scholarship holder of the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation at the Argonne National Laboratory in the US. He started his career in the field of intellectual property at the patent department of IBM Germany in 1995.

Thomas L. Bittner regularly teaches intellectual property law both in Germany and abroad. He was a visiting lecturer at the Hasso-Plattner-Institute of the University of Potsdam for many years. For the German Attorney Academy he is teaching in a course about the protection of software.

Eva Liesegang has extensive experience advising and counseling mid-sized German companies in all matters of patent law, and representing multinational corporations in European patent matters. Dennis Kretschmann has worked for BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT since 2007. Following his training in industrial property law, he was admitted as German patent attorney in 2010. In 2014, he was appointed adjunct professor for intellectual property law at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taiwan’s leading technical university.

Matthias Hofmann focuses on examination, opposition, and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office and the German Patent and Trade Mark Office. Most of his work is related to computer-implemented inventions, in particular relating to artificial intelligence. He has in-depth technical expertise in the fields of machine learning, medical imaging, video and image processing, computer architecture, telecommunications, and bio-informatics (computational genomics).

Matthias studied physics and computer science at the University of Tübingen and the University of Cambridge, UK. He obtained his doctoral degree from the Department of Information Engineering at the University of Oxford, UK, with a topic on applying machine learning to medical imaging. He also conducted research at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems and at the Laboratory for Preclinical Imaging at the University of Tübingen. His publications have won international awards and received more than 1000 citations. Patents for Matthias‘ inventions are being licensed by a major medical device manufacturer.

He is frequently in China and in 2017 was appointed as Guest Professor of the IP School at the University of Nanjing University of Science and Technology.

During his dissertation, he worked on the generation of ultrafast laser pulses and used them to resolve photo-induced charge processes in novel organic solar cells via ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy.
