Nominations in the categories of patent litigation, trade mark law, and patent practitioner of the year

Ahead of the Managing IP EMEA Awards 2026 ceremony on May 1 in London, the jury has published the shortlist. According to this, BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT can hope for awards in the categories “Patent Disputes (Patent & Trademark Attorney Firms)” and “Trademark (Patent & Trademark Attorney Firms)”.

It is particularly pleasing that BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT partner and patent attorney Dr. Markus Engelhard is nominated as “Patent Practitioner of the Year (Patent & Trademark Attorney Firms)”. This is fitting recognition of Dr. Engelhard’s outstanding work in the fields of life sciences, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology.

The Managing IP Awards program recognizes special achievements and developments in the field of intellectual property. The awards, which will be presented for the 21st time on May 1, 2026, cover numerous areas of intellectual property and more than 50 fields of law.

Topic “Voice cloning, deepfakes and the deceased brought back to life”

This year, the traditional producers’ brunch will once again take place as part of the 75th Berlin International Film Festival. The media:net berlinbrandenburg as well as the IP law firms BOEHMERT&BOEHMERT and NORDEMANN invite interested parties to the Representation offices of the Federal State of Brandenburg to the Federal Government in Berlin.

After a keynote speech by BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT Partner and attorney at law Dr. Martin Schaefer, a panel of top-class speakers will discuss the tense relationship between artistic freedom, economic freedom and rights in personality (e.g. likeness, voice etc.). The latter have gained new relevance with the advent of voice cloning, deepfakes and actors brought back to life.

The interdisciplinary panel is as follows:

  • Kerstin Schmitt, attorney for personality rights, VON HAVE FEY

The event will be moderated by Dr. Julian Waiblinger, partner and attorney at NORDEMANN. Prof. Dr. Jan Bernd Nordemann will provide a short wrap-up afterwards.

The Patent Lawyer magazine once again recognizes law firm as “Award Winning Law firm 2024”

BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT among the 10 most renowned German patent law firms.

The trade magazine “The Patent Lawyer” has published its annual ranking of the most recognized patent law firms in Europe and the United Kingdom. BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT has once again been listed among the 10 best law firms in Germany and awarded the title “Award Winning Law Firm 2024”.

The ranking reflects the results of comprehensive research by the jury of “The Patent Lawyer Magazine”. Aspects examined include, for example, commitment and expertise in the legal field, client recommendations, efforts made by law firms in terms of diversity, equality and integration as well as ranking results with third parties.

Traditionally, the results are published in the May/June 2024 issue of the magazine and can be viewed online for free.
