    Théodore Ley handles European patent applications and advises clients in all prosecution phases before the European Patent Office. He especially deals with computer-implemented inventions in the fields of computer and network techniques, information technologies, fintech, AI core and AI-based technologies, user interfaces and displays, telecommunications, electronics and micro-electronics. His expertise particularly covers the patenting of inventions involving a mix of technical and non-technical features before the EPO.

    Théodore studied electrical engineering at the French Grande École d’Ingénieur INSA-Lyon and specialized in microelectronics. After graduating in 2000 (Diplôme d’ingénieur, corresponding to a M.Sc.E.E.), he came to Germany and worked as a chip designer in several renown European semiconductor manufacturers. Since 2010, he has been working in the field of intellectual property. After one year as a patent examiner at the European Patent Office, he worked as a patent engineer on valuation and licensing of the patent portfolio of a former large chip founder. In 2015, he joined a UK-based law firm in Munich, where he qualified as a representative before the European Patent Office in 2018 and prosecuted patent applications for large and SME clients. He has been part of the BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT team since August 2020.

    Théodore is a member of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi). Moreover, he obtained in 2024 the University Diploma on Patent Litigations in Europe of the CEIPI Center in Strasbourg (France), and thereby the European Patent Litigation Certificate, and is since a registered representative before the Unified Patent Court (UPC).
