Bernhard Jochim’s activities focus on the preparation of patent and utility model applications as well as their maintenance, defense and opposition before the DPMA and the European Patent Office. He also regularly conducts prior art searches and freedom-to-operate analyses. His main areas of expertise include various fields of engineering, in particular mechanical engineering such as energy, production and plant engineering, vehicle drives, exhaust gas aftertreatment as well as the control and regulation of technical processes.

Bernhard Jochim studied mechanical engineering with a focus on energy technology at RWTH Aachen University. Parallel to his studies, he gained his first practical experience as a student assistant at the Institute for Combustion Technology. After completing his studies, he worked there as a research assistant. During this activity, he dealt with the development of reduced combustion models for the model predictive control of engine combustion.
Bernhard Jochim gained practical experience in intellectual property law in the patent department of FEV Europe GmbH, one of the leading German development service providers for vehicle and drive technologies. His main responsibilities included drafting patent applications, building and maintaining patent portfolios in the Diesel and E-drives business areas, conducting freedom-to-operate analyses, assisting with bid preparation and contract negotiations in project acquisition, and reviewing IP clauses in project contracts.
At BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT in Düsseldorf, Bernhard Jochim has been working in intellectual property since February 2023.
He was admitted to practice as a patent attorney in July 2023.
