“Portability for online services” – Producer brunch to mark the 67th Berlinale.

13. February 2017/in Events

To mark the 67th Berlinale, media.connect brandenburg, BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT, the Media Institute Berlin Brandenburg (mabb) and the Permanent Representative of the Federal State of Brandenburg will hold the sixth Producer Brunch on 13 February 2017. This year, the central theme will be “Portability for online services and cross-border radio broadcasts – who benefits? And who doesn’t? Attending the event will be BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT Partner Prof. Dr. Jan B. Nordemann who will give the keynote speech. The background here is provided by draft EU regulations for the “cross-border transmission of online content services” and “certain online broadcasts by radio institutions and the dissemination of television and radio programmes”, which have met with a range of criticism. The first draft only affects contents in national or territorially limited online services. The second affects the transmission in proprietary online networks whereby transmission on the internet is expressly excluded. Both drafts have been criticised by one camp as too timid and narrow and from the other as too broad. The discussion is intended to show who benefits from the proposals and who will experience them as a limitation. The panel will be hosted by BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT partner Olaf Wolters. Appearing on the panel will be:

  • Christoph Bellmer, eXaring AG
  • Maria Martin-Prat, European Commission
  • Lutz Reulecke, Sky Deutschland
  • Christian Sommer, Motion Picture Association (MPA)
  • Dr Anja Zimmer, Media Institute Berlin-Brandenburg (mabb)

The event begins at 10 a.m. in the Kurfürstensaal at the Permanent Representative of Brandenburg in Berlin. Registration at
