“Copyright and Architecture” – Discussion with Prof. C. Czychowski and O. Bartels.
“Why do we need copyright for architects?” This was the topic of debate on 20 March, part of the “Creative Dialogue” hosted by the Ministry for Economy and European Affairs of the State of Brandenburg. BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT partner and lawyer for Copyright and Media Law, Prof Christian Czychowski and architecture journalist Olaf Bartels led the discussion. Various legal processes and decisions of the recent past, for instance, developments surrounding Dresden’s Kulturpalast or the Stuttgart or Berlin Railway Station, as well as various projects in Potsdam, have wide-ranging implications for construction in Germany. What role copyright plays in terms of the quality of such constructions and the question as to whether the law is often used as a mere vehicle to assert other interests are further aspects to be discussed on this evening. The event begins at 6 p.m. and will be held in Bundesstiftung Baukultur in Potsdam.
