Silke Freund focuses on the contentious – sometimes cross-border – enforcement of trade marks or the defense against asserted infringement claims of third parties. She also supports clients in their worldwide trade mark portfolio management in the filing, assignment, and licencing of trade marks as well as opposition, appeal, and cancellation proceedings before the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (GPTO) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

Silke Freund also advises clients on the permissibility of marketing and advertising campaigns as well as on the adversarial enforcement of – and defense against – claims based on the law of unfair competition and its ancillary laws. The main focal points of her work in copyright law are the out-of-court and the contentious defense of copyrights, ancillary copyrights, and rights of use. She is also regularly involved in the area of freedom of expression as well as print and visual reporting, in particular with regard to all aspects of general personal rights.
Silke Freund studied law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. In addition, she completed further training in information, telecommunication, and media law at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster.
Before she joined BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT in 2013, she had been working in renowned partnerships and large international law firms in Munich since 2002, her main focus being media, copyright, and trade mark law.
Silke Freund regularly gives lectures on media and trade mark topics and is co-author of the Handbuch des Persönlichkeitsrechts (Handbook of Personal Rights). (Publisher: Götting/Schertz/Seitz, C.H. Beck Verlag, 2008; 2. Aufl. 2019).
