Fabian Schmidt is involved in all aspects of patent prosecution and focuses on drafting patent applications, responding to examination reports in proceedings before the European Patent Office, the German Patent and Trademark Office, and Patent Offices abroad, as well as on the search and analysis of prior art documents. Moreover, he is involved in opposition proceedings at the European Patent Office. His technical expertise covers all areas of Life Sciences, in particular the fields of Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacy, Cell Biology and Microbiology.

Fabian Schmidt studied Biology and Molecular Biotechnology at the Technical University of Munich. During his studies he focused on topics such as molecular oncology and protein-protein interactions. As part of his doctoral thesis at the Technical University of Munich, Mr. Schmidt conducted research on γ-secretase, an enzyme complex that plays an important role in the development of Alzheimer’s disease. He succeeded in identifying functionally relevant protein domains, thus contributing to a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanism in the development of this dementia disease.
