He obtained the degree of Master of Laws (LL.M.) at the University of Edinburgh in 1995. In his doctorate work, Andreas Dustmann was concerned with the liability of internet service providers for online copyright infringement. From 1998 to 1999, he was a research fellow at the Max-Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg.
