Jörn Plettig focuses on the life science fields of pharmaceutics, chemistry, biology, and biotechnology. Especially in international patent preparation, filing, and prosecution, he is very active in the technical fields of pharmaceutical development, chemical manufacturing processes, stem cell therapies, tissue engineering, and biotechnology. He has been involved in national infringement and nullity proceedings with underlying global strategies.

Jörn Plettig is also familiar with due diligence negotiations, oppositions, and observations by third parties before the European Patent Office (EPO). He is involved in the drafting of patent landscape opinions and freedom-to-operate analyses. Also featured in his routine activities is advising on global intellectual property strategies in complex patent portfolios and their lifecycle management.
He studied biology with special emphasis on molecular biology, cell biology, and human biology at the Freie Universität of Berlin. During several stays at the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine in Pittsburgh (USA), he deepened his knowledge of biosciences.
As part of his cumulative thesis, Jörn Plettig explored the primary autologous skin cell isolation for the production of an applicable regenerative spray suspension of keratinocytes and their external supply by means of a hollow fiber system as active wound dressing – in vitro and in vivo. His research results were published in internationally renowned journals.
Since 2010, Jörn Plettig is with BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT. After completing his training in intellectual property, in particular in various aspects of international patent law, he received the 2014 admission as a German patent attorney and has been patent counsel at BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT since then.
He is a member of the Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP) and the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI).
