“Patents in the digital age” at Der Märkische Presse and Wirschaftsclub – mit Prof J. B. Nordemann.
On 9 May 2012, the media club Der Märkische Presse- und Wirtschaftsclub (MPW) will hold a round of discussions on “Patents in the Digital Age: Between Innovation and Product Piracy.” Until a few years ago, the primary use of patents was to protect inventions. The digital world has meanwhile changed the effect of patents. Whether patents are still protected and how aspects such as market competition, expansion and product piracy change entrepreneurial activities will be addressed in the discussion. Participating will be: BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT partner Prof Jan Bernd Nordemann, Specialist Lawyer for Industrial Property Rights as well as for Copyright and Media Law, Maria Curter, Author of “Inventive Berlin (Das erfinderische Berlin)”; Knut Kümmel, LOMAGRI GmbH and Dr Franziska Sauer, ipal, Gesellschaft für Patentverwertung Berlin mbH. The former Editor-in-Chief of the tabloid newspaper Berliner Kurier, Caroline Methner, will host the event. The event will be held on Wednesday, 9 May 2012, at 7 p.m. at the Berlin Hilton Hotel, Mohrenstrasse 30, 10117 Berlin. Those interested in attending can register on the MPW website. MPW was established in 1990 as a discussion forum for journalists, public relations workers and entrepreneurs from both East and West. It sees itself as an intermediary between media and industry.
