GRUR Berlin . Speech by Prof. J. B. Nordemann: “Copyright law: Linking after ECJ Svensson and Sanoma”.
The GRUR area group Berlin will hold an evening of events on 24 April 2017 at which Prof. Dr. Jan B. Nordemann will illuminate the issue “Copyright: Linking after ECJ Svensson and Sanoma – What distinguishes links to news and naked images”.
“Linking is a central technology on the internet. The internet has been around for two decades. And only now has the ECJ answered central questions on the legal categorisation of links in copyright law. In the decisions Svensson (C-466/12) and Sanoma (C-160/15), the Court set out a concept which is controversial among academics and which still leaves certain questions open, ” Nordemann explains. In his speech, he looks at the jurisprudence of the ECJ and looks at the practical impact on German copyright law. The event will begin at 6p.m. and will take place at the German Patent and Trademark Office, Gitschiner Str. 97, in 10969 Berlin. Further information.
