The GRUR Area Group South will hold a lecture evening on 12 January 2017 at which BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT partner Prof. Dr. Jan B. Nordemann will speak on the topic “Copyright: Linking after ECJ Svensson and Sanoma – what differentiates links to news and to naked images”. “Linking is a central technology in the internet. The internet has been around for two decades. And still the ECJ has only now answered central questions on the legal classification of links with regards to copyright law. In its decisions Svensson (C-466/12) and Sanoma (C-160/15), the court presented a clear concept, though one which is disputed on dogmatic grounds and one which still leaves a number of questions open,” Nordemann says. In his speech, he will analyse the jurisprudence of the ECJ and takes a look at the practical impact on German copyright law.
