Prof Jan Bernd Nordemann in international team examining the effect of industrial 3D printing on intellectual property

In April 2018, the European Commission entrusted a project to research the impact of intellectual property on the development of industrial 3D printing to the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy & Management (CIPPM) at the University of Bournemouth, United Kingdom.

BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT partner Prof. Dr. Jan Bernd Nordemann is member of the international expert group drawn from universities and industry, which will push forward the project under the direction of CISP Director Prof. Dinusha Mendis over the next eleven months.

The aim of the project is to obtain an overview of recent and current industrial applications of 3D printing, also called additive manufacturing (AM) in selected sectors. At the same time, possible challenges and problems are to be illustrated where these require an explanation. The study essentially aims to provide a clear picture within the framework of intellectual property which could improve competitiveness of the 3D printing sector in Europe.

The Centre for Intellectual Property Policy & Management (CIPPM) is part of the Faculty for Media and Communication at the University of Bournemouth, United Kingdom. It was established in the year 2000.
