SOMM-Akademie: Cartel Law Seminar by and with Prof. Dr. J. B. Nordemann.

On 24 November 2015, Society Of Music Merchants e.V. (SOMM), the marketing board and association of the musical instruments and music equipment industry, will be holding a seminar on the subject of cartel law as part of its further training programme in Berlin. BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT partner Prof. Dr. Jan B. Nordemann will conduct the one-day seminar “Cartel Law: Price Maintenance, Selective Distribution and Exclusive Distribution – what is allowed?”. To provide some background information: manufacturers and wholesalers are now forced to design their distribution as efficiently as possible. However, cartel law sets limits on distribution design. Breaches of these limits can result, in particular, in heavy fines, invalid sales contracts and claims for damages. Nordemann will explain the framework of cartel law and will illustrate hurdles and opportunities in distribution design using practical examples. The seminar is aimed at employees of the music equipment industry with and without legal expertise and is also designed as a practical workshop.

Deutsche Anwalt Akademie: Combination of seminars on “Copyright Law” – with Prof. Dr. J. B. Nordemann and Dr. J. Waiblinger

Deutsche Anwalt Akademie is organising two complementary seminars with copyright law experts from BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT in Munich on 20 and 21 November 2015. On 20 November 2015, Prof. Dr. Jan Bernd Nordemann will lead the seminar “Copyright Law Practice”. On 21 November 2015, Dr. Julian Waiblinger and Prof. Dr. Nordemann will both explore a range of topics during the seminar entitled “Current Developments in Copyright Law – Legislation and Case Law”. Both of these daylong events will take place in Munich this year. The seminars are aimed at lawyers, employees of publishers, music and film production companies, radio and TV broadcasting companies, Internet and software companies, companies in the advertising and design industries, associations and collecting societies. The seminars will also be suitable for graduates of professional law courses in copyright and media law and/or intellectual property law.

The 9th Göttingen Copyright Law Conference will take place on 17 November 2015. The two BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT partners and copyright law specialists Prof. Dr. Jan B. Nordemann and Dr. Julian Waiblinger will be among the speakers shaping the programme on the day. Prof. Dr. Jan B. Nordemann will provide an “Overview of Current Case Law in Copyright Law”, and Dr. Julian Waiblinger will give a talk on “Plagiarism in Academia and the Right of Quotation”. Prof. Dr. Gerald Spindler and Prof. Dr. Andreas Wiebe from the University of Göttingen will lead the programme for the day.
