WTR – “Anti-Counterfeiting Guide 2015” with contribution from three BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT partners.

The internationally renowned specialist magazine World Trademark Review has published the renowned “Anti-Counterfeiting Guide 2015” which is compiled in cooperation with the World Customs Organization and INTERPOL. In the May 2015 edition of the guide, BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT partner and trade mark law experts Dr Rudolf T. Böckenholt, Dr Volker Schmitz-Fohrmann and Dr Florian Schwab contributed the article “Border seizure measures in the European Union”. The article looks at issues in relation to product piracy and borders seizures in the EU. In particular, new rules applying to border seizures after the entry into force of the new Boarder Seizures Ordinance such as the new small volumes procedure are set out clearly. BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT partners explain “Industrial Property Rights in Insolvency”.

In May and June, the Neue Deutsche Kongress GmbH will hold the Credit in Insolvency Days 2015 at three different venues: Munich, Oberursel (near Frankfurt/M.) and Dusseldorf. The events will focus on the rights and options available to merchants and will explain how these can secure the interests of their customers in the case of insolvency and how they can hedge against the risks of insolvency. BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT partner Prof. Dr. Christian Czychowski and Dr. Julian Waiblinger will speak at this event on the aspect of “Industrial Property Rights and their Licensing in Insolvency”. Dr Julian Waibinger will kick off the series on 20 May in Munich. Prof Christian Czychowski will continue on 9 June in Oberursel and then follow on 23 June in Dusseldorf.

“Ring Lecture IP: In Practice” with speech by Dr M. Schaefer – 13.05.2015, Berlin.

In the summer semester 2015, the Centre for Intellectual Property at the Technical University of Berlin will hold the Ring Lecture IP: In Practice. Here, various representatives from legal practice will give lectures on current questions and aspects of intellectual property law. The Ring Lecture series is aimed at students, staff as well as teachers at the Technical University of Berlin and gives an insight into the special legal questions which arise in connection with technology and practice. BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT partner and lawyer Dr. Martin Schaefer will give a lecture on the following topic in this lecture series on 13 May: “I need a homepage – what must I pay attention to?” The lecture takes place between 6pm and 7.30pm. in lecture hall H 0112 at Technical University Berlin. Registration necessary.

New edition: “Manual Commercial Criminal Law” (HWSt) with contributions from BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT partners.

The respected Handbuch Wirtschaftsstrafrecht (HWSt) (Manual of Commercial Criminal Law) published by Prof Hans Achenbach, Prof Andreas Ransiek and Prof Thomas Rönnau has now been released in a new 4th edition (2015) by C. F. Müller Verlag, Heidelberg. Three BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT partners have authored contributions for the chapters on copyright and industrial property rights. Dr Florian Schwab is responsible for the subject of “Product Piracy”. Further contributions are made by Prof Axel Nordemann (Copyright Criminal Law) and Malte Nentwig (Patent and Utility Patent Criminal Law). The respected manual offers a compact summary of key fields of commercial criminal law including administrative offences and has its focus in the representation of relative practical aspects. Prof J. B. Nordemann hosts congress “10 Years Unfair Commercial Practices Directive”

On 7 and 8 May 2015, the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin will host the congress “10 Years of the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive: Experiences and Perspectives”. In May 2005, the Directive 2005/29/EC on Unfair Commercial Practices entered into force. The directive introduced fundamental amendments to the law on unfair competition in the European Union. Ten years on, the congress is now to have the opportunity to look back on developments and answer questions from a European, German and Austrian perspective. Representatives from the European Commission, from responsible national ministries, from academia and industry will discuss various aspects of the topic. The event will be hosted by BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT partner Prof. Dr. Jan Bernd Nordemann.
